Well it was off to London to enjoy the delights the Castle had to offer for the Leading Ladder.
I always like going to the Castle, they have really got in to doing their bit for the environment, recycling, composting and a green energy policy. All good stuff.
And so what were the routes to be like this year. Well they were all quite technical, making onsighting quite a challenge. with moves needing a bit off thought to execute and as we got through the grades, some taking a bit more of a fight than expected.
The 6b+ was an exposed route up the side of the overhang. Needing a cool head to make the moves with nothing below your feet. Just before the last section a lean out over the edge was required before bridging across to reach the last moves.
As I leant out, I felt a sickening tearing sensation in my shoulder, as a shot of pain ran from my shoulder down my arm.
I new it was bad and a trip to the Doctor has confirmed my worst fears. An acute tear to the rotator cuff tendon.
It looks likely to be a slow and lengthy recovery - still I can at least report on what the NHS physio has to offer. Not much compensation really...
