The text below is a brief outline of our expediton. Please take a look at our website, www.londonsydney.co.uk, and read on!

Joe Myers and I, Tom, are driving the above route, from our hometown of Petersfield, Hampshire via London to Sydney, overland in a Land Rover.
We are both 18 years of age, and are on our Gap Year, having recently finished our A levels and going on to University in 2010. Therefore, we will be the youngest ever people to complete such an expedition on our chosen route.
One of the primary reasons for our trip is our support of the Help for Heroes charity, as well as our own charity through which we work with small schools in impoverished countries along our route and give the children an opportunity to climb; a sport about which we are both passionate. We are working hard to finance the cost of the expedition ourselves, and are seeking sponsorship for our chosen charities. All money raised for this expedition will go to Help For Heroes and to our 'Climb For the Future'.

Our route takes us from the UK across Europe to Russia, before heading across the steppes of Central Asia and along the Silk Route into Western China. As we are supporting Help for Heroes, we are liasing with their directors as to whether we are able to gain secure access to Afghanistan in order to be able to visit troops there.

In China, we plan to climb the 7500m peak of Muztagh Ata before visiting Everest Base Camp and en route, working with a school in Tibet for which we were part of a previous expedition which raised £15,000 for the construction of a new dormitory. We then drive through South East Asia before shipping the Land Rover from Singapore to Australia, arriving in Sydney around 25 weeks after our departure.

Our website, www.londonsydney.co.uk details the expedition fully.

We would greatly appreciate any support or coverage that you would feel willing to give us!
