On every expedition I have been on since my surfing days I have always carried a sewing kit with me. The kit I use is really simple it's just a roll of dental floss and a couple of different sized needles. The dental floss is really easy to use with cold and wet hands, it's really strong, doesn't rot in water, and holds knots really well. I have used it to repair: tents, gloves, mountain bike body armour, rucksacks, duffle bags and shoes.
