MATT:

Munched cereal and toast and got on the road by 9.30 which is an improvement on the last few days! The day started with a massive uphill, it was raining and the road was slippy with mud and leaves, I nearly face planted a few times. Then we turned right into the maze of country lanes that crawls all over England. We got lost instantly, it just sucked! Steep hills, rain and narrow lanes. Anyway we made it out alive, were on the local radio, got a few donations and got some photos for the local paper. So exciting, huh. Lee was much stronger in the afternoon at least. 48 miles done today and we’re in Hereford. A day north of Bristol, which seems crazy! We’re getting up at 5.30 tomorrow to get a couple of miles out the way on the main road before the traffic starts. I doubt anyone’s reading this blog ha ha, so there’s not much point in writing any more. Night night.

CHARLIE:

Woke up to rain yet again. Day 14 and still raining. No dry days to count and we only have six days left to beat Dave Cornthwaite’s record of three dry days! We started the day with the same awful hills as yesterday and struggled as we took a few wrong turns to start with but we soon found our way. When we got to Ludlow we stopped in a Tescos and after having been told off by the parking attendant, Matt continued to skate. So the parking attendant followed us all the way through the shop to the café where we had a nice conversation.

The road to Yeominster was pretty lame and we flew to our lunch. Got on the radio and not long after starting again we had a photoshoot for the local newspaper. Easy roads into Hereford to finish the day, thankfully we got some more Vaseline from the ASDA and some ice for Lee’s ankle. It’s about as big as my head! We’re all set up for an early morning, and Matt’s just given our mallet to some people who were trying to bash in their pegs with their spare poles – nice!

LEE:

So once again it rained. That’s probably the worst noise to wake up to. Rain pouring on your tent. The day started off on what seemed like endless hills up tiny lanes that all looked the same. This made it pretty easy but eventually we found our way to some bigger less hilly B-roads and the day got easier. When we stopped for lunch we decided to call the local radio station in the hope of some more donations and then 10 mins down the road the man from the local paper had stopped to take pictures as he had just driven past us. All in all it wasn’t too bad a day and the sun even came out between showers.
