Another GlobeBusters ‘First’ as the 2009 Trans Americas Adventure Enters Colombia

 As the GlobeBusters 2009 Trans Americas motorcycle expedition passes the half way point of the journey from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to Ushuaia, Tierra Del Fuego, the group of 20 bikes has just arrived in Ecuador after a week of ground breaking and exciting riding in Colombia.

GlobeBusters is the first  to venture into Colombia with a group of riders, a move which reflects Kevin & Julias pioneering spirit and desire to take the lead in opening up exciting new routes in unusual countries.

Columbia has only recently been viewed as more stable after years of security concerns, particularly for overland motorcycle travelers.  Some areas are still not recommended for travel!

GlobeBusters Kevin Sanders said; “ Colombia is a great place to travel. Julia and I rode through the country during our Guinness world record Trans Americas ride in 2003 and met some great people".

“It’s important to shed the image of drug cartels, guns and kidnapping. As is often the case in some South American and also some African countries, the experience doesn’t match the sometimes poor image that these places have. The Andes in Colombia provides some of the best riding you can have on a motorcycle. Endless days of bends though mountains of lush green jungle forests. The Infrastructure is good and roads are excellent. Plus there’s plenty of opportunities to take breaks in cabanas, sipping fresh mandarin juice, listening to the sound of the jungle whilst buzzing from the best riding you will ever have"

“We rode with Colombian riders – the same who had helped us on our Guinness World Record ride. They showed us great back roads off the main Pan American Highway where it was safe to go.”

GlobeBusters will continue to develop the Trans Americas journey to include more exciting destinations. This ensures that the expedition is new and fresh for each set of riders who take the challenge.

GlobeBusters will also be at the UK motorcycle show at the NEC, Birmingham, in November.
