Lighting a fire in the wet

Cable Ties save hassle

I recenly cracked the the hip-belt buckle on my rucksack (stood on it!) and was facing a long walk back with a heavy pack. Managed to wrap some tape around the buckle to create a surface that the tie would grip to then strengthened the buckle enough with the tie for it to hold

Ice Axe safety

One I learned from my thrifty mate Andy - tape up the outside of a cork and then use it to protect the pick and shaft points of your ice axe. Cheap and re-usable!
