In October 2009, Shaun Lloyd  is aiming to walk Kilimanjaro - the highest freestanding mountain in the world. Walking for Help for Heros, Shaun is aiming to raise £3500.00 for the charity, which is very close to him.

“My trek takes the less-trodden Machame route, allowing us to camp and fully appreciate the splendour of our surroundings. This is a challenging trek at altitude, climbing one of the most impressive and well-known mountains in the world.

I was a member of the British Army for 8 years and am now actively involved in the RMLY (TA). During my active service I was lucky enough to have never sustained any serious injuries.

However, one of my best friends that is taking part in the challenge with me, was not that lucky. It will be challenging for myself, but even more for him as he is a below-knee amputee. We have chosen to dedicate some of our time to raise as much money as possible for the charity, Help for Heroes.”

For Shaun, climbing Kilimanjaro in October is about our men and women of the Armed Forces. Our Betws-y-Coed stores have provided him with some of the necessary kit and equipment, but to help Shaun and to donate money, please click here.
