On 13th February 2010, David Liddiard from our Cotswold Harrogate store will depart from London to go to the Kerala region of India to work for 13 weeks on community, adventure and environment projects. David will be working closely with local partnerships and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and different non-governmental organisations and youth groups, to empower young Indian people form a mixture of backgrounds to take responsibility in their own communities and to use their newly found skills to teach others, helping improve their career development prospects.
To support this opportunity, David needs to raise £1500. In order to raise these funds, he plans to walk the 3 peaks in 24hours, as well as climb Kilimanjaro in June 2010.
"I'm going out there in Febuary, in a sense to gain the "self confidence and leadership" aspects that the expedition based itself on over 30 years ago, but also to help make a difference in less economically developed part of the world. I'm hoping the experience will give me a chance to put things into perspective, so in the long run I can perhaps get a more meaningful grasp on whatever the future holds in store for me."
