Devon’s newest dedicated indoor climbing centre has opened and is pleased to join forces with Cotswold Outdoor. 

Dart Rock Climbing Centre brings the best of indoor climbing to the area known for the best outdoor climbing in Devon.  With 420m2 of climbing surface, 25 leadable lines and over 70 routes,  special areas for teaching, traversing, and classroom activities, Dart Rock caters to climbers of all abilities from complete novices to seasoned crag rats. And this is just the start, with more climbing planned for early 2010.

Built by climbers for climbers, the owners, Robbie & Paula Warke, have put heart and soul into making Dart Rock the centre of the climbing community. Dart Rock is situated in the heart of South Devon, minutes from the A38, and half way between Devon’s two largest population centres of Exeter and Plymouth, and just minutes from the Torbay coastline. 

Robbie Warke, MIA, is the Director and Centre Manager. He said “Cotswold has supported Dart Rock from its early days, understanding our aim and the need for the facility in the area, even in this difficult economic climate. We are pleased to refer our customers to both Exeter and Plymouth Cotswold locations for climbing gear, and are delighted that Cotswold has referred so many customers our way.”  Cotswold has reciprocated by offering Dart Rock members a discount for purchases, and actively sponsors activities at the centre.

With just two months of full operations under their belts, response has been excellent with over 700 registered climbers, and bookings from many area schools and colleges. "Dart Rock is everyone’s climbing wall" said Paula Warke, Operations Manager and Company Secretary. "We get great feedback from our customers, and loads of helpful suggestions. Our aim is to make everyone feel welcome and part of the experience here.   It is fantastic to get to meet our facebook friends and people who have been following our blog since long before we opened."

Dart Rock is open 7 days a week from 10am to 10pm. Prices start at just £5.00 with courses from £7.50.  Come in for a cup of tea and a slice of cake, and soak up the atmosphere in the Lizard Lounge, or just come climb with us.
