Danny Bent left his home, family and job as a junior school teacher in July 2009 to pursue a 20 year dream. A dream to cycle round the world raising as much money for charity as possible. He is travellingBike-logo on shirt4

15,000km by bicycle to southern india where he will work in a Slum in Bangalore and a village school in Chembakolli as a teacher.

He has been welcomed into strangers homes, been chased by wild dogs, wept at Auschwitz, danced and song with hardcore football fans, seen the consequences of war, spent a sleepless night thinking he was being attacked under an apple tree, grown a beard, and he hasn't even left Europe yet!!!

'The kind people at Cotswold Kingston not only planned my kit list but supplied most of it!! I thought it was only right that I reviewed some of the kit.....'

'Hilleberg Nallo 2 GT - this has not only kept rain off me, but apples, mosquitoes, mice (or some other rodent that were knocking to come in). There is plenty of space in this two man tent for all my luggage, me and even another body if needs be. The awning is just big enough for me to tuck my bike into to avoid looking too attractive to passers by!!

My 4 season sleeping bag is so warm that even during the cold russian nights I'm experiencing at the moment I only have to lie next to it to stay warm. I'm almost looking forward to the tibeten plateau so I can be really cold and tuck myself in for the evening!!

Spork - all important tool - left on my desk back at school. I'm sure the kids will be using it when term time starts again. (Never mind Danny!)

Penknife - I wasn't sure if I needed one. Did I ever. It has fixed my bike, set up all sorts of devices for carrying things, eaten my food with it (even a yoghurt), opening tins, you name it - this knife is my best buddy.

Icebreaker - Merino wool t-shirt. I wore this t-shirt for 3 weeks without any trouble at all. Thought I'd better wash it even though there was no odour at all. Hung it out and then left the hotel without it!! Lesson to learn. Don't bother washing your marino wool shirt - EVER!!

My head torch is perfect. Powered using AA batteries - I keep it at hand at all times so I'm ready to make camp at the end of the day.

Salomon wind proof - keeps me warm on the bike when it's drizzling or windy. It tucks into a nice little package and wraps round my top tube without any problem!!! Perfect!!'
