I aways have a warm hat and a set of gloves in a extra small dry bag, placed in the lid pocket of my rucksac.
I use the neary airtight bag as a compression sac (squashing it down and rolling the closure down nice and tight.)
It also means they will be dry when you need them - a big bonus, and you should be able to find them atthe drop of a hat (sorry!)
