What are we..
Although modest in size relative to some of the major city stores, our Grasmere shop pulls it's weight when it comes to providing a range of top quality clothing and equipment - the majority of which are greatly reduced in price. As a Rock Bottom store, we offer two floors of discounted stock covering all areas of outdoor equipment - clothing, footwear, rucksacks, tents, sleeping bags and climbing gear - from trusted brands such as Berghaus, Mountain Equipment, Rab, The North Face and Arc'teryx, amongst many others. This is complemented by a selection of outdoor essentials at standard price, to make sure you don't go without a vital piece of kit. We also have a well-stocked library of guidebooks and mountain literature.
Who are we..
We have an enthusiastic and experienced team of staff, eager to discuss anything from the most useful gear to take on your trip to the Himalayas, to the best place to go for a walk on an afternoon in the Lakes.
So if you're in the area, why not drop in and find yourself a bargain or catch up for a chat?
Our store is situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park, on the Coast to Coast trail. Approaching from Ambleside, turn left into Grasmere Village at the roundabout on the A591. We are approximately half way through the village, on the left hand side, set back from the road (opposite the Post Office). If you are approaching from Keswick, turn right at the first turning signposted "Grasmere Village". Drive into the village, past the Village Green on the left, and we are on the right just after the Red Lion Hotel.
There is no parking at the store itself, however there are various free parking spaces scattered around the village. These are limited to half an hour between Easter and the end of September. There are also three pay and display car parks - one on each side of the village as you enter, and one in the middle of the village on the road leading around the back of the lake.
In our area..
There is a huge range and quality of outdoor activities around Grasmere. A 20 minute drive in either direction can see you gearing up for a stunning ridge walk along the Helvellyn range, or the ascent of a three star VS on Gimmer Crag, depending on your fancy. Mountain bikers will find their home on both the area's many bridleways and the purpose built singletrack of Grizedale or Whinlatter Forests, and there are no shortage of lakes and rivers for those who would prefer to paddle. If you're after something a little more sedate, then Wordsworth's home at Dove Cottage is 10 minutes walk from the store, and of course there's always the local gingerbread to be sampled...
Supporting local groups..
We are proud of our links with local groups and organisations, and do whatever we can to support them. To find out more on how we can benefit your group, please contact the Store Manager, Chris Wynn on 01539 435778.
