Hi guys Next month I'm walking the west highland way which is 100 miles in 7 days. The problem arises because I'm not sure what walking trousers would be best for the trek. I'm willing to pay up to about £30-45. They have to be breatheable, lightweight and quick drying. Thanks Mitch

Hi Mitch, Without doubt I would go for the mountain hardwear mesa pant. A great pair of trousers that are quick drying, really breathable and really durable. I've still got an old pair of canyon pants (very similar trouser, but the mesa's have a slimmer cut) that are now 10 years old, but still going strong. the mesa is £45 and we are doing the canyon as a special at the moment for £30. cheers Russ

Hi Mitch, The Mesa's are definitely a great walking trouser. Another alternative would be a pair of Craghopper Nosquito Convertibles. Lightweight, breathable, quick drying, lots of pockets, and with plenty of options for when the heat picks up. There is a deep ankle zip on both legs, and both lower leg sections zip off for very hot days. The fabric has a high ultraviolet protection rating (40+), and is treated with an insect-repellent coating as well. These are currently on offer from £60 down to £40. All these things would make it yet another option for a long, hot hike in Scotland!

Either the Mountain Hardwear Canyon Pants (£30 promotion) or the TNF Meridian Pants £45. Both great pants, lightweight and quuick drying.
